Business Development / Marketing Specialist

Harger Howe Advertising is a two-office agency that specializes in developing and executing strategic recruitment marketing campaigns for our clients in the areas of healthcare, energy, distribution, and technology. The business of recruitment marketing and employer branding has become more sophisticated and vital for companies to recruit and retain a strong workforce. Our clients turn to us as the experts in this area and an extension of their team.
We are currently seeking a full-time Business Development / Marketing Specialist. This position will play a critical role in helping with the growth of our agency. Since this is a new role, we are looking for a flexible person who can “flex” with the job but has a desire to find and develop new clients for the agency. Unlike other BDR roles with large companies, you won’t be restricted to a specific geography, business sector, or type of company to develop. You will have access to the whole U.S. and virtually any industry.
We are a small company, so the person who is successful in this role will be able to pivot, adapt, change, and develop business in our current channels but also have the vision and drive to push into the other areas of business.
As the Business Development /Marketing Specialist for our agency, duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Working with the Account Managers and President to prospect and create new leads to increase the agency’s new business pipeline
- Maintain consistent and meaningful prospect outreach via inbound and outbound tools including email, content creation, blogging, social platforms, and existing sales tools (Hubspot)
- Forming a strong understanding of the agency’s value proposition, target market, competition, and positioning
- Successfully managing and overcoming prospects’ objections and rejections
- Exceed monthly quota of qualified appointments
- Be a brand champion and educate prospective clients on Harger Howe’s value proposition
- Maintain an active social presence on LinkedIn that generates strong brand awareness for yourself and the agency.
To be considered, you must be a high-energy “type-A” personality who is hardworking, ambitious, and who has a “do what it takes” personality. The ideal person is someone who can easily roll with change and likes the diversity of many different aspects of the sales and marketing process. This person will be confident, inquisitive, independent, willing to offer and take suggestions, and willing to take risks.
Requirements include:
- 1-2 years in a business development and/or sales/marketing role.
- Experience with Hubspot CRM (or similar tools), LinkedIn/LinkedIn Sales Navigator
- Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking, listening)
- Self-motivated and highly driven with the ability to work with limited direction and collaborate with geographically remote team members
- Ability to converse and engage with senior-level decision-makers
- Social selling skills and strong marketing skills are essential
- Conducting research via social media or other means to gain insight into prospect’s needs
- Drive to excel in a numbers-driven, performance-based environment
- Strong organization and time management skills
- A high level of integrity
